Welcome to this month’s blog post. If you have any ideas for improving this blog, or any questions at all, please let me know in the Community Feedback Forum, or message me on the Fediverse (the link is in my profile). Thank you!
A huge welcome to all the newcomers; do feel free to explore the site and post/comment/reply in any of the forums and groups! The Share Space, and Connect Cafe, are probably good spaces to start; your input helps build the community.
There was an interesting discussion around the authenticity of accounts asking for donations to GoFundMe, with some guidance from GoFundMe itself about how to check whether something is genuine. A good question about de-federating and how it affects content is also worth a look, and if you have any suggestions or comments please don’t hesitate to contribute! Some great work on election disinformation was also posted, along with some great insight into the sensitive topic of how to approach self-harm within your community.
Perhaps most importantly, we’ve had a request for moderators to offer feedback on some things they do find, or might find, helpful. There’s a thread of useful tips – please feel free to add up to three of your own! – which can be found here. Bonfire have also requested that moderators let them know what tools they would find helpful (and thus could develop) here, so please start discussions and suggest things that would make your moderating life easier!
The Library remains an amazing resource, with new articles being added all the time. If you have suggestions for articles, or feedback for existing ones, please let us know here.
All in all, it’s been a busy month at IFTAS Connect, and we’re so pleased to have so many new members join us in this collaboration. Thank you, keep contributing, and I’ll see you all next month!
